How We Work
There are 3 main ways our experience can help your business grow, change and face the challenges of the future:
As a Business Coach
As a business coach, or mentor, we can work with you to help you run your business better. To do this, we will meet with you at a time and place that fits your schedule to go over challenges, answer questions, and generally brainstorm on ways you can grow and change your business. We charge by the hour for this service, and there is no obligation on your part other than for the time spent working with you.
As a Project Executive
We can work for you as executives on a project basis. In this mode, we will take on a business project and ‘make it done’ for a set fee.
Most every business has an initiative that is important, but which never quite seems to make it to the top of the priority list. If you have such an initiative, we can take it and make it done.
This is often the best way to start with a new client: you find a suitable initiative that needs doing and we quote you a price. If you agree, we take that initiative on as a project and make it done. In this manner, you get a completed project, and we get a chance to work together; you get to see how we work and we get to see if we’re a good fit for you. If all goes well, you, like many previous clients, learn there are a number of areas of your business where we can offer value.
Projects we have undertaken in this manner include: analyzing cash flow and recommending a 5-point plan to set the business on a strong path forward; setting up 401(k) and health care benefit plans; writing employment policy manuals; reviewing a company’s marketing image and recommending a process for improvement; and, conducting reviews of employee satisfaction and writing reports to management.
As a Traditional Consultant
As a traditional business consultant, we can get involved with your business and apply Total Quality Management principles and other skills to coach your staff to improve leadership, communication and business processes.
Typically this involves our working in your main business, but it could also include investigating ‘sideline’ businesses to determine their potential and resource draw, and then helping to determine the best way to develop them into real businesses, or not.
We charge by the hour for traditional consulting services, and always begin by providing you with a detailed proposal outlining expectations, the steps involved in the process, and a budget for our services.
